When the Ajna Chakra is Blocked
When a person has a blocked Ajna Chakra, some of the physical symptoms that appear range from brain tumors, strokes, blindness, deafness, and seizures, to learning disabilities, spinal dysfunctions, panic, depression, fear of truth, confusion, and even poor eyesight.
Other symptoms include migraines, insomnia, neuralgia, high blood pressure, lumbago, sciatica, low immune system and acute sinusitis
If you can relate to any of the above, you might have a stuck 6th Chakra. If so, get outside and start looking up. Look at the sky, the stars, the planets. Get your perspectives straight (get your head on straight). If you think of yourself all the time, this will only result in you attracting things to you that are not going to help you grow as a person, or spiritually. If you want to get out of yourself, let nature guide you to a higher world.
If a person has an underactive 6th Chakra, they don't trust their inner voice, and are convinced that there is no such thing as a non-material world. This is beyond their capacity to reach. They can become quite superstitious and afraid of their own thoughts that appear when they don't want them to. A typical underactive 6th Chakra is an overly religious person who is afraid of everything that they can't explain with logic. It is also someone who cannot make a decision, procrastinates a lot about any plans made, and just doesn't know what s/he wants. A person who thrives on routine and becomes depressed. Drug problems can result.
If on the other hand, it is overactive, the person will become a pie-in-the-sky type, very spacy and unable to be practical in their daily lives. Basically, they are not attached to or aware of the world. They can't connect. Stuffy intellectuals who hide behind their brilliant minds and have all sorts of rules and regulations in their lives are typical of this. Everything is external, not a part of them. They are not only out of touch with the world, but with themselves.
The best way to unblock and open this Chakra is through meditation.
When the Ajna Chakra is Open and Spirals are Free
When the 6th Chakra is balanced, we are able to see ourselves and others as energetic and spiritual beings. We can create our own reality by using the imagination, freedom of choice and enhanced insight. A person with a strong Ajna Chakra has can rely on intuition, archetypal identity, self-reflection, perception, interpretation, channeling, telepathy, astral travel and past life experiences. However, it is important to remember that if ego enters into any of these tendencies, all is in vain. There can be no real self-realization as long as the ego is in the way. One cannot feel false pride because one has extraordinary abilities. Have you noticed that people who really are extraordinary are also usually very humble? Perhaps because they know that this knowledge is only part of a greater whole. The 6th Chakra inhabits the consciousness of compassion. When it's open, one doesn't hold onto resentment, but forgives. One is capable of loving even someone who is hurtful, because there is more understanding about people's characteristic and how they can learn a habit from their childhood or their parents taught them to act that way. It's all about understanding how discipline and training can change one's behavior to always be open and loving to everyone, not just close friends and family. This the Chakra that has no ego. And it's the second to the last step to the highest Chakra, the 7th. But if the 6th Chakra has expanded out of proportion and there is no balance, the person will blame everything that happens of a negative nature on someone or something else. Victim mentality. A person can become spaced out and irresponsible if they overuse this Chakra and all the others are not balanced with it.
Healing Visualizations and Meditations
The 6th Chakra is about forgiveness and compassion. Forgiveness is the power to let go of anger, hatred and resentment and to discover, in humility, the generosity of the Spirit. It is the one that dissolves all our ego, conditionings, habits, false ideas of racialism, and all our misidentifications. It is the narrow gate which opens the way for our consciousness to ascend to its final destination, which is the 7th Chakra center. All of our meditations and visualizations are no longer about the body. We travel to other places now.
- Since this is the Chakra that provides visual images when it is open, just imagine that there is a round eye in the center of your eyebrows and that it is delivering everything in your subconscious mind into your conscious mind. It expands out in front of you, on both sides of you, behind you. It stretches itself to strengthen your ability to dream, to visualize, to think without attachment. The more this is visualized, the more common sense you will have!
- See a beautiful indigo-purple color inside your mind's eye just at the spot between your eyebrows. Imagine that the indigo-purple colors expand all around your head and swirl slowly and with purpose, bringing you visuals of light and inspiration. Visualize the symbol for this point, the 5-pointed star.
- Here's a gem from Bhagwan Shree Razneesh (papers that I have kept all these years, even after his death) called Mandala Meditation. Each stage of this powerful and energetic meditation is 15 minutes (altogether 1 hour).
Dream Meditation
Create a place next to your bed where you have a writing pad, journal—something to write on in the middle of the night. If you don't want to write, use a tape-recorders (now they have the digitals that you can create CDs from). As you awaken from a dream, quickly jot down your dream or turn on the recorder. This is the only way to remember dreams, vividly. Keep in mind that your dreams are the images and voices that arise from the deepest part of your subconscious mind—whether they are significant or just daily rehashing!Illuminating the Pineal Gland and Moving into the Sun
This is such a great exercise and explanation of the 6th Chakra, this had to be included. Go to Ken Page's free online book section to learn all the details in the 20th chapter of The Heart of Soul Healing. To give you an idea, one short excerpt: “The Taoists call life-force energy Chi (Qi) and charted its movement through the body. Indian Yoga adepts call it Prana and used it for healing. Dr. Wilhelm Reich discovered the same energy and called it Orgone energy. Reich felt this creative energy was the basis of life and could sometimes be seen in the air as blue or white balls of energy. The Chinese, Hindus and Dr. Reich all taught their students the benefits of arousing this energy and moving it throughout the spine and brain.” One long exercise has this short section in it. I don't know Mr. Page, but I'm sure he'll be happy to share this (since his book is free online, too, and you can read this there from the link I gave you above.- “Begin by sitting on the edge of a strong chair with your spine straight and head erect.
- Place your feet together and pull them back until they are directly below your spine.
- Raise your heels so your feet are resting on your toes, and begin bouncing your feet up and down, keeping your toes on the floor.
- Let your arms hang straight down the sides of your body, open your fingers, and gently shake your arms and hands.
